From 2016-2017:

I’m talking New York Fashion Week runway to you baby!

This collection was our first collection we debuted on the runway during the NYFW Men shows in January and then again during the NYFW RTW shows in February, all of 2016.

Don’t know where to start – as this was truly an exciting opportunity for my label plus the chance of running our own shows independently. So I’ll start with my inspiration for the collection.

This collection was a mix between the beautiful and great Diana Ross and her 1983 concert in the Great Lawn of New York City’s Central Park. I wanted to imagine what would the attendees have worn in 2016 attending the amazing first night of the rained out show!
For each runway show, we were able to dedicate looks for the models that were unique and special at the same time kept the integrity of the brand.

From eyewear, jewelry, down to the buttons on the collared shirts – everything was put together meticulously.

As you can see a lot of the looks were very structured as we slightly moved away from our freeform casual styles and focused more on tailoring. We also introduced more bags, shoes to outerwear as well as showcased our new logo print across the garments and accessories.

The attendees for each show was at capacity – we really outperformed our expectations! I’ll give you some more details – we included in the seeds of our attendees very pretty show flyers which gave an overview of the collection along with artwork that tied in the theme for each show.

Our show invitations were also hand-delivered to some of the local and visiting buyers, editors, to media – all in town for the shows; this step totally elevated our independent production.

In addition, for the first time, we reversed course to bypassed the traditional industry route and took to social media and shared our collections immediately following our shows in order to start the conversation with consumers, followers, and fans – that was a new thing back then and unbeknownst to me; it was necessary, if you know what I mean.

Overall the collection, the models, to the production were a hit! The shows really took us into our fashion future as an independent New York fashion brand – holding it down!

With that I can’t front, I can say now, that the future then was so uncertain and so unknown. But this work served as the foundation to who we are and what we stand for.

Have a look about and enjoy!!!
