resort 2021:
What an amazing launch this collection served as!
For me, it was the jump off for a true independent bran working independently through and through. From building out my own photography to running point on the entire creative process, all of it came home for this collection.
First, I can tell you, this was coming out of 2020 and there was so much to say, so much to do, and so many new responsibilities to get in front of.
This collection was inspired by the American-born, French naturalized Vedette, singer, dancer, actress, civil rights activist, to French Resistance agent, Josephine Baker! This was my first pass, at designing a wardrobe, I think, Mrs. Josephine Baker would have loved! I wanted to explore design ideas that would have been worn by Mrs. Baker and friends casually during their 1920s jet-set lifestyle of events!
The clothing collection was made simple as we really wanted to explore the entire aspect of producing a collection by way of introducing other categories to the mix. Therefore this season I wanted to have a full line of handbags, new eyewear colors, home decor items to our official line of fragrances to include Eau de Toilettes, Colognes to Perfumes!
This collection also made room for our first cinema debut. Yep, while at home in 2020, I pretty much started creating, writing, to producing an animated, fashion cartoon – starring me 🙂
Our cartoon film was inspired by a coffee table book I was producing at the time, specifically I wanted to inspire my viewers to look beyond fashion when it came to exploring all of the possibilities we have as creators. From wardrobe, set design to actual script – I was in it all and it was so much fun. The short film was released as a trailer on our mobile app, and we are currently in talks of releasing the project in it’s full length, in the near future.
